About the role
Staff Software Engineer at Jobgether in US. Remote, full-time, paying $260k–$306k. Posted November 4, 2026.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer based in the United States.
The Staff Software Engineer will establish the technical foundation for an expanding government-focused product offering, designing scalable systems that support complex public-sector compliance needs. In this senior technical leadership role, you will shape architecture, engineering standards, and product capabilities for government vendors, federal agencies, and State, Local, and Education (SLED) organizations. You will lead the development of new compliance workflows and platform capabilities, working directly with early design partners to validate solutions and adapt to evolving requirements. Your work will help organizations navigate frameworks such as FedRAMP, CMMC, and NIST while strengthening their security posture. As the team's technical anchor, you will drive strategic engineering initiatives, mentor developers, and build durable systems that support long-term growth.
Accountabilities:
-
Own the technical strategy and architecture for the government-focused product line, adapting core compliance capabilities to the needs of federal agencies, government vendors, and SLED organizations.
-
Lead the design and development of new product capabilities, including foundational compliance workflows that extend existing platform functionality.
-
Collaborate with early design partners to validate solutions, gather feedback, and refine product requirements as customer needs evolve.
-
Establish reusable abstractions, architectural patterns, and engineering standards that support scalability and minimize technical debt.
-
Partner with adjacent engineering teams to develop shared infrastructure and tagging systems that enable government-specific compliance workflows.
-
Lead multi-quarter technical initiatives across engineering, product, and go-to-market teams, translating ambiguous requirements into reliable, scalable solutions.
-
Mentor mid-level and senior engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and engineering practice development.
-
Raise overall engineering quality through sound technical decisions, effective collaboration, and a strong engineering culture.
-
At least 10 years of extensive backend software engineering experience.
-
Proven track record leading complex, multi-quarter technical initiatives in fast-paced, product-oriented environments.
-
Strong systems thinking and platform architecture skills, with the ability to design reusable, scalable, and maintainable systems.
-
Experience working in highly regulated industries such as fintech or healthcare; familiarity with FedRAMP or government technology environments is an advantage but not required.
-
Comfort operating in early-stage, 0-to-1 product environments where requirements evolve through customer feedback and technical decisions have significant business implications.
-
Strong product mindset, with the ability to balance technical excellence, delivery speed, and business priorities.
-
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to influence technical direction and engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers and improve team-wide technical quality.
-
Openness to using AI tools responsibly to improve productivity, strengthen engineering work, and deliver better outcomes.
-
Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship.
-
Annual cash compensation range of $260,000–$306,000.
-
Equity compensation.
-
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with 100% of employee-only premiums covered for most medical plans.
-
16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents.
-
Health and wellness stipend.
-
Remote workspace, internet, and cellphone stipends.
-
Family planning benefits.
-
Matching 401(k) contributions with immediate vesting.
-
Flexible paid time off policy and 80 hours of sick time.
-
11 company-paid holidays.
-
Commuter benefits for employees who report to the San Francisco or New York City offices.
-
Virtual team-building activities, learning sessions, and company-wide events.
