About the role

Power Systems Study Engineer III at Jobgether in US. Remote, full-time, paying $105k–$131k. Posted November 3, 2026.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power Systems Study Engineer III based in the United States.

As a Power Systems Study Engineer III, you will play a key role in delivering advanced electrical engineering studies for hyperscale data centers and other mission-critical facilities. You will independently conduct complex power system analyses, ensuring electrical infrastructure is reliable, efficient, and compliant with applicable safety standards. Your responsibilities will include load flow studies, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, arc flash assessments, and equipment evaluations. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering and project management teams, you will contribute technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle. You will also support project planning, technical reporting, quality reviews, and the development of innovative engineering solutions. This fully remote opportunity offers the chance to work on sophisticated infrastructure projects while advancing your expertise in power systems engineering.

Accountabilities:

  • Power Systems Studies: Independently perform advanced electrical power system studies for mission-critical projects, evaluating system performance, reliability, safety, and equipment capabilities.
  • Electrical Equipment Evaluation: Assess the ratings, operating capabilities, and condition of electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, capacitors, and other power distribution components, to verify their suitability for system requirements.
  • Load Flow Analysis: Analyze existing and projected electrical loads to evaluate power distribution performance, identify potential overload conditions, and ensure adequate system capacity.
  • Short-Circuit Analysis: Perform short-circuit studies to evaluate potential fault conditions, determine system response, and verify that electrical equipment ratings are appropriate for anticipated fault levels.
  • Protection Coordination: Evaluate protective device settings, including relays, circuit breakers, and fuses, to ensure proper coordination, reliable fault isolation, and effective system protection.
  • Arc Flash Analysis: Conduct arc flash studies to assess electrical hazards, calculate incident energy levels, and develop appropriate safety recommendations and protective equipment requirements.
  • Transient Stability Analysis: Evaluate power system stability under significant disturbances, including electrical faults, sudden load changes, and motor-starting events, to assess the system's ability to maintain stable operation.
  • Technical Deliverables: Prepare and review incremental and final engineering deliverables, including breaker setting tables, Time-Current Curves (TCCs), arc flash labels, and comprehensive technical reports in accordance with project requirements.
  • Engineering Software: Utilize specialized power system analysis tools, including SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, and ETAP, to perform simulations, calculations, and technical assessments.
  • Project Management Support: Contribute to proposal development by assisting with project scopes, schedules, and budget estimates. Coordinate workloads and ensure engineering deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Project Risk and Scope Management: Identify potential changes in project scope and support the development of strategies to minimize cost deviations, manage risks, and maintain project timelines.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Perform technical peer reviews and QA/QC assessments on projects where you are not the lead design engineer or power systems study specialist, ensuring accuracy and consistency across deliverables.
  • Reporting and Stakeholder Communication: Prepare project progress and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders, communicating findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Technology and Continuous Improvement: Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to improve engineering efficiency, reduce manual work, and maintain high-quality outputs. Identify opportunities to optimize workflows and adapt to emerging technologies and innovative engineering methods.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure assigned tasks and deliverables are completed accurately, within established deadlines, and within approved budgets.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with engineering and project leadership teams, support organizational objectives, and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of professional electrical engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical system topologies commonly found in mission-critical facilities, including complex power distribution environments.
  • Strong understanding of protective devices, including relays, circuit breakers, and fuses, as well as their operating principles, applications, and settings.
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment ratings, capabilities, operating conditions, and performance requirements.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and electrical safety requirements, particularly those relating to arc flash hazards and power system protection.
  • Understanding of the technical considerations and requirements associated with connecting new generation sources or electrical loads to existing power systems.
  • Proficiency in power system simulation and analysis software such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
  • Strong ability to interpret and review electrical engineering drawings, technical documentation, and equipment submittals.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical codes and standards, with the ability to perform code analysis and evaluate equipment and wiring selections for compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams, with strong organizational and document management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with strong attention to detail and a commitment to technical accuracy.
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and review technical documents, engineering reports, and professional correspondence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills, including the ability to interact directly with clients and occasionally serve as their primary point of contact.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain high-quality work under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate, plan, and delegate work to other team members when required.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment, demonstrating self-motivation, initiative, resourcefulness, and effective communication.
  • Willingness to follow all applicable company and project site safety requirements.
  • Travel availability: Up to 10% domestic travel, potentially involving any of the 50 U.S. states.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including remaining stationary for extended periods, moving through office and facility environments, and occasionally lifting equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be provided where necessary.
  • Benefits:

  • Competitive annual salary: $104,738–$130,502.05, depending on experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
  • Choice of comprehensive medical insurance plans, including two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) options and a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) option.
  • Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • Comprehensive dental and vision insurance.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage options extended to spouses or domestic partners and dependent children up to age 26.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching and a self-directed brokerage account option.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO), including additional paid leave during the final week of the year.
  • Company-paid life insurance coverage for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance.
  • Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage.
  • Professional development opportunities and ongoing technical training.
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional engineering licensing assistance.
