Global Head of Solutions Architecture, General Assembly

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Head of Solutions Architecture, General Assembly based in the United States.

As the Global Head of Solutions Architecture, you will lead and develop a global team responsible for designing innovative, technically robust solutions for enterprise workforce transformation programs. You will shape the architecture strategy, establish technical standards, and ensure that proposed solutions align with client technology ecosystems and business objectives. Working across AI, cloud infrastructure, software engineering, and data, you will help translate emerging technologies into practical, scalable learning experiences. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Learning Experience, and Delivery teams to guide complex client engagements from technical discovery through implementation readiness. This leadership role combines deep technical expertise, people management, and commercial awareness to strengthen solution quality and support the evolution of an enterprise learning portfolio.

Accountabilities

You will oversee the global Solutions Architecture function, ensuring the team delivers technically feasible, scalable, and commercially sound solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, coach, and develop a global team of Solutions Architects, establishing a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

• Define and implement standards, frameworks, and best practices for solution design, technical documentation, estimation, and feasibility assessments.

• Provide architectural oversight for complex enterprise engagements and act as the senior technical authority for challenging design decisions.

• Establish technical requirements for the infrastructure, platforms, software, and tools needed to deliver hands-on technical learning experiences.

• Guide architecture decisions involving cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, as well as virtual machines, containers, development environments, and sandbox solutions.

• Assess enterprise requirements related to security, authentication, permissions, data access, software licensing, and infrastructure provisioning.

• Evaluate technology providers and external partners to ensure their platforms and environments meet program requirements.

• Advise on emerging AI technologies, including generative AI, large language models, agentic AI, and enterprise AI applications.

• Assess AI platforms and development approaches, including Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, OpenAI technologies, APIs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and orchestration frameworks.

• Partner with Product and Learning Experience leaders to translate technology trends into relevant, credible, and technically achievable enterprise learning solutions.

• Work with Sales and Client Success to understand client objectives, technology environments, workforce capability gaps, and technical constraints.

• Lead technical discovery and solution design for strategic client opportunities, including solution architectures, proposals, statements of work, implementation plans, and complex RFP responses.

• Support technical scoping, effort estimation, demonstrations, and client discussions while identifying risks, dependencies, and delivery requirements before commitments are made.

• Coordinate with Product, Technology, Learning Experience, and Delivery teams to ensure effective technical handoffs and implementation readiness.

• Oversee resource allocation and prioritization across multiple client opportunities and strategic initiatives.

• Establish performance expectations, competency frameworks, and career development pathways while identifying hiring and training needs.

• Develop reusable solution assets, encourage technical knowledge sharing, and incorporate lessons learned from client engagements to improve architecture practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a technically strong leader who can guide teams through complex architectural decisions, communicate confidently with enterprise clients, and turn emerging technologies into practical business solutions. The following qualifications are required:

• At least 10 years of experience in solutions architecture, technical consulting, software engineering, cloud architecture, enterprise technology, or related technical leadership roles.

• At least 5 years of people-management experience, including leading and developing technical teams.

• Demonstrated experience managing Solutions Architects, technical consultants, or comparable technical solution-design teams.

• Strong technical knowledge of modern enterprise technology stacks, including cloud platforms, software development tools, APIs, development environments, and integration architectures.

• Experience designing, implementing, or supporting cloud-based technical environments involving virtual machines, containers, sandboxes, or development platforms.

• Solid understanding of generative AI, large language models, enterprise AI platforms, and emerging AI development patterns.

• Ability to evaluate technical feasibility, identify infrastructure dependencies, and assess architectural trade-offs across complex enterprise engagements.

• Experience working with enterprise clients and explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to bring structure to ambiguous situations and balance innovation with operational feasibility.

• Commercial awareness and the ability to connect technical recommendations to client objectives and business outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise workforce transformation, technical training, EdTech, or learning technology.

• Background designing technical solutions for hands-on learning, applied projects, technical assessments, or simulated enterprise environments.

• Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms and development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, Salesforce Agentforce, and GitHub Copilot.

• Experience working with technical learning environment providers, lab infrastructure, or sandbox platforms such as Skillable.

• Experience supporting complex enterprise sales processes, including technical discovery, solution scoping, RFP responses, and statements of work.

• Experience managing distributed or globally operating technical teams.

• Annual salary ranging from $115,000 to $155,000, plus an annual bonus opportunity.
